The Swan Silvertones

(self titled)/Savior Pass Me Not

(2 albums on one CD; 2001 Vee-Jay Records)

Credit Paul Overton for this rather innovative addition to Lindy Hop music.  I first heard the Swan Silvertones while listening to Paul's Internet Radio station.

This CD contains 2 albums of some of the most Swinging, soulful, down-home gospel music that this Jewish boy has ever heard.  With two albums of material on a single CD, it is also a bargain.  Marvin Gaye must have listened to these guys as a boy.  Originally recorded in 1948 and 1951, this is soulful gospel music without the damnation or the inartful corniness of some religious music.

Makes me wanna go to Church.
